Chapter 5: Afterword
At noon, in the Green Trade Electronics Factory cafeteria.
"Ugh... no way..." Chen Huijuan frowned and covered her mouth at the delicious braised fish chunks.
"Ajuan, what's wrong? What's the matter with the fish? It's fine."
"Yeah, what's wrong with you?" The three older sisters fired questions at her all at once, and they could tell Chen Huijuan's body was acting strange.
"The fish smells too fishy. I can't eat it," Chen Huijuan replied.
"It isn't fishy. It hasn't gone bad. I didn't smell anything either."
"Right! It's all cooked from the same pot, and it's usually fine."
"Ah..." Hearing the certainty in the older sisters' voices, Chen Huijuan suddenly thought of something. Damn, could she have been hit? What was she supposed to do now?
While Chen Huijuan was struggling at the factory, a group of people got off at the bus stop not far from her neighborhood, among them a stocky middle-aged man wearing glasses and carrying an office satchel.
Just as he stepped off the platform, a small fallen leaf dropped onto his head.
He raised a hand and brushed it away.
The green leaf trembled as it drifted down into a flowerbed beside him, landing on a patch of fresh, lively green sprouts.
Another bright, beautiful noon under clear sunshine.
